I really thought I would sit down and write an entire fiction novel top-to-bottom in three months. Wow, was I wrong.

Forty thousand words into this thing and the characters keep surprising me. In non-fiction you have the boundaries of reality and truth to keep you on track but in fiction anything can happen! My main character could stop into the 7-11 for a bag of chips and meet Jason Bourne. Or turn into a zombie. Or grow a second head.

Also, the sheer amount of coffee I can drink while writing is a surprise.
